Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is a young adult book. Ronald and Bing Slaughter, twin boys, are more interested in music than in academics. To get into a top-ranked school, they'll need a high score on their college admissions exam. Their parents want them to work at McDonald's if they fail their exams. The twins are resolved to stop it at all costs, but first they must pass William Jeffrey Broy's history class. The twins and the rest of their band dislike their history teacher since he has an unusual appearance and is constantly picking on them.

The twins and their band members had a group reading session the day before their exam in their rehearsal stadium. Things got out of hand when there was a total blackout and people started seeing bizarre things. This led them on a great adventure in which they physically battled the Servants of Darkness. In the first place, why were they fighting the Servants of Darkness? What is in store for each of them in the future? What will their exam outcomes are like? If you read this book, you will find answers to all of these questions.

I was immediately drawn into this book, wanting to discover more about Ron and Bing, the twin brothers, and their pals, Meat and Kaitlyn. As the teenagers faced challenges, the dark world unfolded and showed itself. I admire how the author let the story tell itself, gradually understanding and piecing together the puzzle pieces. And the bravery displayed by these young people was refreshing. They were relatable, frequently taking the wrong way yet banding together to stay alive. It's a fantastic example of friendship and unity at its best.

There are profanities in the novel, as you might anticipate given the subject and convention. This story should be avoided by religious or sensitive readers. There are bloodshed, fighting, and horrific beasts. There are no explicit sex scenes, but there are a lot of nudity and erotic suggestions. The mild humor sprinkled throughout added to the fun. This is a novel that both young and old folks should read.

Nothing in this book bothered me because it was intriguing and enjoyable to read. There were no errors in the book once it was professionally edited. For the reasons stated above, I give Demon Freaks 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a lighthearted fictitious story with a unique twist. It was a pleasure to read.
