Review of Faults
Sydney Livingstone is a young, professional tennis player who arrives at Silverhill for the annual Mainspring Mutual Open tournament. She is determined to achieve the best possible result to solve her financial problems. In addition, her chronic degenerative disease will stop her career in a few years. The moment is such that she must use every opportunity to earn and succeed in the world of tennis.
However, instead of dedicating herself to the goal, Sydney is upset because she has a feeling that someone is stalking her, someone who knows her past. The package she suddenly receives in her hotel room confirms her suspicion. The exciting world of professional tennis seems calm and glamorous at first glance, but the reality is never so perfect. Sydney knows she has a lot of good friends, while some would love to stumble her up. Who wants to harm her? Will this tournament bring her fame, or will she fall into the hands of a ghost from the past?
Faults by Orion Gregory is an outstanding crime thriller that will captivate you from the first page. I am delighted with the author’s skill in developing a very intricate story. Usually, by elimination, we try to find the culprit, but the author in this book does not allow it. With the number of pages, the number of suspects also increased. Each character is unique, with a compelling motive and specific background. The unpredictability lasted until the very end of the book.
Further, I liked the dose of humor that blended perfectly into the content. Sydney is trying to take control of her life because every day brings a new problem, the stakes are getting bigger, and her only cure is humor. A great way to relax the reader before indulging in the following tense situation.
I am not a good connoisseur of tennis, and the story of the hits performed on the tennis court confused me. I did not mind because that is just what I could have expected in the book with a plot on a tennis court. On the other hand, I have to admit that I played every match with Sydney. The author conveys the atmosphere so that the reader can feel it. There is nothing concrete that I did not like and, the book was professionally edited. Hence, I rate it with 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves fast-paced crime thrillers and solving mysteries. Even though the plot is set in the world of tennis, you can enjoy the book even if you do not have some knowledge about the game itself. I have to mention that there is a lot of profanity in the book, scenes of violence, and suicide, so if anyone is bothered by this content, another book would be a better choice.
