Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R (Jim) Hardison is an absolute work of science fiction and fantasy that stretches the very fabric of imagination.

An identical twin, Bing Slaughter and Ron Slaughter found themselves facing an entirely new reality as they practiced for their band music on one faithful and stormy night. It all started with their history teacher, Brom, crashing into Meat's cabin as the band try to study for their SATs exam (happening the next morning) while practicing their song. Brom tried to kill the boys with a soul-sucking dagger; they barely defeated the history teacher. Meat picked the dagger and all hell broke loose, a horde of dark robed eye glowing men attacked them and the dagger possessed Meat, he ran off leaving the Slaughter twins to face evil eye glowing men all alone, fortunately, Kaitlyn chose that moment to crash into Meat's cabin in her microbus (no spoiler intended). The night kept getting interesting and intriguing when a golfer club captured Meat and Kaitlyn (the keyboard player of the band), and the Slaughters had to rescue them, but little did they know that a lot more is going on than meets the eyes as it turns out that the boys are facing the very icon of evil.

It took my reading through the first two chapters to get to the captivating part, but the moment I hit that part, it was a straight suspenseful action-packed intriguing race until the very end of the book. Every time I thought I know what's coming next, I get disappointed to find out something even better, the dramatics, the humor, the plot, the suspense, and the surprises all worked intricately to create a magnificent work of imagintion.

I have to admit this book is a masterpiece, I found no error whatsoever in its text nor did I find any in its story.

Although the book does contain some spirituality that might seem upsetting to religious readers, as well as a mild case of nudity that might also be upsetting; both cases are very mild and I do not find them pointing any fingers in any sense of the word. Although the author almost went over board when speaking about the existence of God, but he was inconclusive and open to suggestion thereby making it enjoyable for all readers.

To rate this book anything less than four out of four stars would be unfair, Demon Freaks is just an amazing piece of fantasy.
