The Judge: Part 1 and 2 by Ian R B Morris is filled with page turning suspense and shocking twists and turns. Based in London it focuses on the death of a male prostitute, coated in secrecy, blackmail and suspense throughout, it also has a sadness. The story is beautifully paced and flickers from one character to another, constantly keeping you engrossed. Be prepared to enter the world of judges, barristers, solicitors, and prostitutes. Set in London the book is revolved around the death of a well-known, high end prostitute. Known in high circles for his services his death is shrouded in secrecy and suspicion. Peter, a solicitor, is quickly thrown on to a case which is filled with confidences masked in fear of exposure and ruin in the mission to seeking out the truth behind the death of his ex-client Black Bobby. This story will have you on the edge of your seat as it unveils the twits and turns involved in solving the murder and finding the truth about the death of Bobby Black. Be prepared to not put this down as you will just want to keep reading to find out more and more.

The character depth is one of the highlights of this book as it’s not often that you are given characters of such vast depth and differences, that are all so entwined together. The author has developed characters with deepness, that’s portrayed when delving into their past lives. These aren’t just surface characters.

This book will resonate (in certain manners) with most people as it addresses the need to hide who you are due to persecution, harassment, and violence. The emotional turmoil the characters go through is just heart wrenching. It touches on homophobia in the UK from 1938 to present day, challenges the liberal thinking mind that so many claim to have and forces you to see the situation from another view. Although it is heavily law based it never seems to over stretch or use law jargon that many of us would struggle to understand and it truly is an enjoyable read. The author has taken a good basic story line of prostitution and secrecy resulting in murder and totally turned it on its head.

No negative points in the book. Very well written and great page turner.

This is 4 out of 4 stars and is beautifully written.

This book is wonderful for anyone wanting something you can really sink your teeth into. Readers who like crime, law and secrecy would thoroughly enjoy this.
