Review of A Walk Through the Grapes
There is this quote: “Home is not a place, it’s a feeling”. The truth is, a home is a place strongly connected to feelings. And this statement is one of the most crucial ones to estimate A Walk through the grapes by David Jackson. Jace Grazer, the “black sheep” of the family, like most people feel in their young years, after searching for something special in New York City, a city of dreams and great achievements, is returning to his small hometown, Willowcreek, after 2 years of runaway. Even though his family members seem pretty happy while they see their family reunited again, there is still a tense atmosphere around Jace and all this makes it hard for him to even breathe freely, without feeling guilty because of his previous actions. But maybe it’s just his thoughts and feelings towards himself, the storm from the inside that makes him so concerned about his family and secrets his family members hide from him. Everything intensifies after the fight with his brother near the bonfire while partying. And after this, there’s the only way to find out what’s happening: he needs to walk through their yard of grapes.
The most amazing thing about this book is that it makes you feel an adrenaline rush somehow, constantly looking forward to turnings like you are on a rollercoaster. You feel this way while the characters are very well developed, they are highly different from one another, yet there is something they all have in common: loving each other and wishing to protect each other no matter what. It’s incredible to see how all these people are trustworthy and people you can rely on in the most difficult situations. Thus, all the hard situations described in this book, are perfect examples to see how these kinds of situations are often the most necessary ones to turn people like Jace into grown ones; How all the suffering and doubts can be worth as long as they serve to greater purposes of awakening.
I couldn’t think much of the negative points I can mention about A Walk through the grapes. The maximum I can say is that maybe it would be better to describe appearances in more detail as it could give the reader an even more intense feeling of being involved in the story. Still, showing peoples’ emotions through their actions and mimics and using the right words for each of them, is sufficient to feel yourself in characters’ shoes.
It’s a great book for people who love to run wild their imagination yet enjoy their mistaken thoughts about the following circumstances. This book leaves plenty of space to develop your anticipations yet gives you the best, sometimes sad, but the most relevant answers and reasons of stories happening in Grazers’ family. The book is professionally edited and easy to follow. So, I give it 4 out of 4 stars.
A Walk through the grapes is ideal for people who love suspense, fiction, detectives, and romance. I recommend this book to the ages of 16 and plus as there is a scene here to take into consideration if children below this age want to read it. Although, it perfectly matches the plot and expresses the twisted mind of humans and the deeps of their relationships as well.

I read the book and I really see this. The characters where indeed very well defined. And good observations on saying they all had something in common. You feel this way while the characters are very well developed, they are highly different from one another, yet there is something they all have in common: loving each other and wishing to protect each other no matter what
