Review of The Silent Cabin

Cami goes to visit her grandfather, Pappy Joe, at his cabin during her summer holiday. She has also volunteered to help him pack up old stuff. It seems like a mundane activity, but it quickly turns into something more when terrorists arrive on the land determined to carry out their secret mission. The Silent Cabin by Erik Stone is an action-packed thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats with all its close calls and surprising events.
Cami is a sweet nineteen-year-old college student who decides to check on her Pappy Joe and lend him a helping hand. The visit brings back many memories of times spent with her large family during the summer holidays when she was a child. Unfortunately, these memories soon become tainted with the invasion of the terrorists. Her resilience is greatly tested, and she will have to unlock her inner strength to survive the trials ahead of her. Will she be able to escape the terrorists?
The book started quite slowly, and I was a bit discouraged because I was already very expectant after reading the description of the book. However, it provided me with a good background story of the significance of the cabin to Cami and her Pappy Joe. Things picked up rapidly towards the end of the first chapter, and I was hooked. I really like the way Cami was portrayed as a strong female lead. I admired her ability to think quickly in difficult situations.
The chapters are short, and I read them with ease. This book has only 130 pages. Therefore, it can be read in a single sitting. The number of action-packed scenes and the level of suspense I felt while rooting for her not to get caught by the terrorists kept me glued to this book, and I was sad to see it end.
I also liked the way the author wrote the dialogue, as it made it easy for me to follow the shifting dialogue between the various terrorists. The book ended with a good cliffhanger, so I’m expecting a sequel. I look forward to reading the next book because the ending was quite interesting. I believe this book was professionally edited because I saw only a few errors in it, and these errors didn’t disturb my enjoyment of the book. Therefore, I give this well-written book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars, having found nothing to dislike about it.
This is definitely a book for readers looking to read about strong female leads. Readers who enjoy action, thriller, and crime novels will enjoy this book. This book doesn't have any sexual content or profanity, but there are a lot of violent scenes with graphic details. So, readers who may be triggered by violence should beware.
