EMP Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom is written by Dorothy May Mercer. This is the story of newlyweds CPD Sgt. Tom Turbulo and Kelly McBride, who are enjoying their honeymoon in Honduras on a gorgeous island resort. Their lovely honeymoon, however, quickly turns into a hazardous involvement in a terrorist plan against the US. Kelly discovers a nice gift shop she discovered on her honeymoon is a front for a sophisticated computer lab while shopping. Kelly gets attacked while looking around the lab and just escapes. When Tom and Kelly learn what happened, they return to the area, and Tom goes to the gift store to look around. Colonel Rhee Su-Jin and her commander, Dear Leader, were planning a terrible terrorist strike on US soil in Honduras. They had no intention of blowing up a city, but rather of attacking US satellites in space. The destruction of the satellites would result in a nationwide blackout in the United States. Tom and Kelly, a newlywed couple, were on their honeymoon in Honduras at the time this cell of terrorists planned this attack.

He discovers a massive, closed shipping container in an alley behind the shop. What's in the box, and why was Kelly attacked? With CIA Special Agent Steve Spalding and two female bodyguards, Sharon and Agatha, sent to protect Kelly, the couple becomes embroiled in a terrorist plan. The five put their lives on the line to discover what's in the cargo container, what information they can glean from the lab's computers, and whether or not this is the terrorist cell attacking the US. Despite the fact that this is a romance novel, it is more of a fast-paced action thriller.

As Sgt. Tom Turbulo and Kelly McBride grow more involved in figuring out what the terrorist group's goals are, the honeymoon perception appears to fade. There are a lot of characters in this narrative, and author Dorothy May Mercer does a great job of describing them all. The plot is powerful and fascinating, and the reader will become engrossed in the story's action and suspense. With the word "honeymoon" in the title, I was expecting a bit more romanticism. There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. I would recommend this book to anyone who like suspenseful fiction with a hint of romance.

I liked how Dorothy May Mercer incorporated some humor into the story. The building friendship between Sharon and Steve following their initial encounter of mistrust, as well as Sharon's initial antagonism against Steve, was my favorite portion of the book. What I despised the most was the terrorist group's leader, Rhee Su-Jin, who, despite being knowledgeable enough to lead a bunch of terrorists on a critical operation, came across as timid and nearly terrified when posing as a tourist on the beach.

I rate EMP Honeymoon: Kelly and Tom by Dorothy May Mercer four out of four stars. Her character didn't seem to fit her part in the plot. The book is well-edited and complete in general. I did notice a handful of instances where the wrong character's name was used, but overall, I would strongly suggest this book. The tale flowed nicely from one chapter to the next, and the book was interesting to read. The book's title does not correspond to the content of the book. Dorothy May Mercer's EMP Honeymoon is a wonderful thriller. I found the author's writing style to be pretty intriguing, and I believe she is a competent writer. The story was told in the third person, and the characters were well-developed.

This book contains no sensual scenes and only a few curse words, making it suitable for older teens to senior adults. I recommend this book to those who want fast-paced action and intrigue in their novels, with a dash of romance and humour thrown in for good measure. This exquisite novel is also one I like to suggest to those who enjoy adventure stories.
