Review of The Ghost Comes Out

Set in 1964, Grayton, Tennessee, The Ghost Comes Out is a crime, mystery, thriller, and horror book written by The Sisters Spurlock. The book talks about the summer of 1964 in Grayton and how the town, whose population was 762, lost 6 of its members that summer. The lives of the Shelbys, the Scholls, the Montagues, the Smiths, Marcus Peters, Harry and Dean, the Pucketts, and the Hutchins come into play.
The book begins with Rosie and Tati Scholl starting a summer school for Rosie to teach her three-year-old sister, who calls her Wosie, how to pronounce the letter R. They invite their friend Monty to Join their summer school. More children keep joining the school until there is a total of eight children in attendance. This manages to bring the families of the children together. Is this a great idea? Everyone has their secrets. Please read this book to discover how these secrets were uncovered and how the town lost six of its members that summer. You'd be shocked by the surprises this book has to offer.
By the genre of the book, it is effortless to decide which set of people would read it. This book would appeal to any lover of mystery. It holds secrets, deaths, and unlimited surprises. Anyone also looking for a book to pave their way into loving mystery books would enjoy reading this fantastic book.
The first thing that drew my attention to the book was the title. When I saw the book, I just knew I had to read this one. I felt it was a horror novel, and although I am not a lover of horror movies, I enjoy reading horror books. I feel the author's way of keeping the readers grasped while reading was the line which he used at the end of almost every story about a person. The author used lines like “if only he knew.” This made me interested in finding out what exactly should have been known. I appreciate the fact that the author did an excellent job of turning the attention from the actual culprits, and I promise you that you will never see the surprises coming.
The book talks about love and how love can be displayed in various forms, and what people can do for love or hatred. These emotions are strong emotions that lead individuals to sometimes act without calculating the resultant effects of their actions. The book kept track of events that happened in 1964, like the release of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Why We Can't Wait. It passed across knowledge of random facts like how emergency numbers used to be zero and how there was no cure for chickenpox at the time. The book also talks about racial discrimination and the fight for the equality of races. I loved several things about the people of Grayton; I loved how they always managed to turn up for their members when there was a tragedy or a celebration. The author employed the use of comic relief in his book, and I was very grateful for it. I also appreciated the fact that he made the children speak like children of their ages do; it made the book seem more realistic.
I rate this book four out of four stars because it was a fantastic book, and I found nothing to dislike about it. I found only an error while reading this 418 paged book, so I believe the book has been professionally edited. I couldn't give the book a lower rating because it was a fantastic read.
