Under Enemy Colors By S. T. Russell

Post by jlindquist »

Thriller! At least I consider high stakes sea war a thrilling experience. Sean Thomas Russell is relatively new to the high sea adventures, however this protege has made a solid impression in the genre almost completely overtaken by Patrick O'Brien's Jack Aubrey and the legend of Horatio Hornblower.

Charles Hayden is a likeable up-and-comer in the British Navy seemingly unsure of those willing to fight for his station. His position as captain is placed at fingertips grasp as he is bounced into multiple unbearable situations along with some unfriendly captians, chaplains and lieutenants. Will he succeed? Maybe and he might even have some good times and make friends along the way, but this isn't a playground of sun and flowers. You have to watch out for the errant French cannonball from across the channel aimed straight at your chest.

Any opinions?
