Demon freaks by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison is an interesting horror comedy. The book tells the story of the Slaughter twins, Bing and Ron, who got to experience a night of their lives on the eve of their SATs. Their plan to read for the upcoming exams with their friends was rudely interrupted by an unusual incident which was quickly succeeded by a number of more unusual events. Although they had never imagined any of what happened in just that night, they were convinced that it was their responsibility to save the lives of their friends who were at the verge of being sacrificed by a group of evil golfers in a demon summoning ceremony, which required them to put their own lives on the line numerous times with little chances of survival. The book tried to answer some existential questions while the author bordered the plot around the thin line between the world of spirits and that of humans.

I really enjoyed the adrenaline rush I got while reading this book. I loved how the fast paced nature of the book kept me alert and on my toes, it felt like traveling in a speeding vehicle that moved at a fixed pace; the exhilaration and anticipation were all felt. The author did an excellent job in creating the mood of the book in such a way that the reader can easily flow along with all the different emotions of the characters portrayed—joy, fear, hopelessness, confusion etc.

I absolutely loved every minute of the read and don't have any problem with it. The sense of humor depicted was a very good one as I found myself laughing out loud a number of times while reading the book. There was no error whatsoever either and I must say, the book was exceptionally well edited.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. My reason for giving such a high rating is that I not only enjoyed the story but I also liked how precise the author's writing style is. I personally am of the opinion that the author didn't add any unnecessary detail to the book. I also found it very easy to conjure a picture of what transpired, in my head.

I would totally recommend this book to young adults who love books that stimulates the imagination, satisfies curiousity and can make one scream out of excitement.
