Review of Slay the Dragon
In recent times, those of top ranks have mistreated the low-class people in society. Although some people have stood up to fight for their rights and freedom, corruption, brutality, and racism have proven too challenging to fight against. Slay the Dragon: An Adam Weldon Thriller by William McGinnis is a thriller novel full of action and adventure amid investigations of different crimes.
The storyline starts when a police officer, Dave Dorman, is brutally murdered during a demonstration. Ex-navy, Adam Weldon, and BC Davis, who had been close to Dave, realize that someone was indeed behind his death. They, therefore, begin to investigate the murder of their friend. In their investigation, they find out many other things that they had not expected. They realize the harm that China is causing to the USA and they become more than determined to save America by bringing down and exposing all the illegal things that Dongfeng and his partners are doing and are planning to do. In the course of their investigation, their lives are endangered because of knowing more than they should. Will Adam Weldon and his friends be able to unravel what is happening and save the future of the USA? There’s only one way to find out.
This book contains two hundred and seventy-seven pages. It is divided into fifty chapters. Some parts of the book are written from the first-person point of view, while others are written from the third-person point of view. The author uses both the past and present tenses. At the end of the book, the author lists books one can read to learn more about the subjects covered in this novel.
I liked several things about the book. However, in this review, I’ll only mention three. First, I liked how the author created suspense in the book. For example, on page two hundred and twenty-three, when the author asked the rhetorical question, I got curious and wondered what would happen to Adam if Dongfeng finally captured him. That kept me glued to the book, as I wanted to find out what he would do to him. Second, I liked how the book comprised short chapters, making it very easy to read without getting bored. Third, the author provides a special section at the beginning of the book. This section contains the characters and characterization in the novel. This will significantly help those readers who usually get mixed up with the characters and their names. Since I didn’t find any grammatical errors while reading, this book was exceptionally edited.
There is nothing I disliked about the book. The book was enjoyable to read. I, therefore, rate it four out of four stars. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading action thrillers, as this book will best suit their interests.
