Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is another sequel in the McBride series by Dorothy May Mercer. This time it focused on Kelly and Tom. It features action, romance, adventure, terrorism, technology, love, warfare, and patriotism.
As Senator Mike McBride receives a call from someone who is in a panic, as he tries to get more information, he soon realizes from the voice that it was his baby sister, Kelly. Kelly had recently married Tom Turbulo, a sergeant, and they were on their honeymoon. Just as Mike tries to get more information, she replies that it would be dangerous to state the problem on the phone and hangs up the call, leaving Mike in a panic. What would have prompted this? In the midst of all these, where is her newly wedded husband? Read this thrilling book to get answers.
E M P Honeymoon was a book that got me spellbound right from the beginning. Even until it ended, the book was suspenseful, and the author facilitated this through foreshadowing. There were parts in the book that contained factual scenarios, which shows that the book was well-researched. The author was also considerate enough to include a note at the book's end that helped fill in the missing links and parts that seemed incomplete.
The book has four storylines that were developed to the end. The author could also match them properly so that they blend into one complete story. It had a realistic plot, which was not a typical romance, thriller, or action book, but a light-hearted book with bits of them all. Another thing I enjoyed in this book was the characters. They were unique and played individual and distinct roles assigned to them. This made the book fun to read and increased the tension level and conflicts as each had a different view of the situation; variety, they say, is the spice of life. The characters were also engaging and humorous. I specifically enjoyed reading them, especially the conversations between Steve and Sharon.
The only setback in this book was that it was too fast-paced. The action started immediately, and the book seemed rushed, bringing about a quick resolution. However, I will leave this to be the author's style. Therefore, I will rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. It had a thrilling plot, interesting dialogues, and engaging characters. It was also exceptionally edited because I found no errors while reading.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in a fast and quick read. Lovers of action, romance, and adventure are also welcome to read, but as stated above, the book did not wholly dwell on any of them. Teenagers could also read it as it is clean enough for them.
