A Monstrosity Among Men by Frank Leon brings to limelight the reality of the mental illnesses “Psychosis and Cotard Syndrome,” which hits Weber's family. There’s a sudden recurrence of gruesome murders involving the Weber's family and their close contacts. But the mystery involved is that the cause of the deaths is not what they were labeled to be. What’s this dark story that threatens humanity?

This book is intriguing. I do not enjoy horror, but this was a different and well-articulated book. I enjoyed the author’s unique use of imagery. Each time a patient or a scene was mentioned and described, the images reflecting such popped out so easily. Each time the mask was mentioned, the outline and its indestructible form came to mind.

Also, when the gruesome murders were mentioned, the picture of either Max or John performing an unauthorized surgical dissection comes to my mind. The storyline was such that it kept the goosebumps on your skin and also kept your mind yearning to know more. The use of suspense is commendable. The author maintained this suspense on Mia’s whereabouts. There was no hint as to if she was dead or still alive. This lured me more into the book.

Readers would get impatient at this point and would desire to find out more. Also, the issue of the mask which John had made and worn at the mental facility was another instance of this. The presence of it in any household is meant to harm. I'm sure you would like to know the mystery of this mask and whether the mask was possessed or there was more to it.

A lot of readers may find this book a bit uncomfortable to read due to the sensitive contents described therein and the horrid pictures that stick to your mind after the read. For such readers, I advise them not to pick up this one. For me, I find no complaints against this book. I have no negative points to make.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is quite an interesting book. It appears professionally edited with some errors. I recommend this book to lovers of horror-laced stories and suspense lovers. I do not recommend this book to anyone younger than eighteen. If you want your mind blown with lots of goosebumps, then read A Monstrosity Among Men by Frank Leon.

Why is it always assumed that the person with mental illness has committed the crime? Thanks for the review!
