Hard Lies is a beautiful work of fiction crafted by Steve Rush. The book comprises fifty-three chapters. This thriller shows the fascinating perspective of a victim and the villain in a series of horrible crimes. Denise, a scared, helpless girl, and Jeremy, a man with many aliases and a trail of vicious murders.

Denise manages to escape her fiance, whom she had been living with, after she finds out his true identity and his plans to kill her. She races home in a bid to avoid the monster she had unknowingly pledged to. He, however, has different plans for her. He begins a series of heinous crimes designed to torture and terrifies her and her love, who she finds while on the run. This ends up leaving a series of death in its wake. Jeremy seems to defy every attempt to be apprehended. With danger at every corner and betrayals springing up at all points, Denise Is soon left fighting for her very life and the desire to survive with her love. Does she survive? What would happen to her lover?

I found some negative aspects in this book. One was how some aspects of the story didn't come together. For instance, it was really strange how Judith didn't seem to know the face of a person her best friend dated for two years. Again, even after identifying Jeremy as a threat, Daniel cannot recognize his face and boards a jet with him. Similarly, Jeremy seemed to confidently take too many risks, like meeting with Daniel or having dinner a few tables away from there without some sort of disguise. I also found it quite unbelievable how even though it was obvious Denise's life was in danger, no protective measures were taken.

One positive aspect I found in the book was its element of suspense. The book was full of excitement; it kept me glued to it and continually turning its pages. I also gathered quite a lot of knowledge from this book. Another positive aspect of this book was its character development. For most of this book, it seemed well planned out and developed. Jeremy, for instance, looked like the everyday villain. On the other hand, Denise is a relatable character. At different times, I could feel almost any emotion she felt. I also enjoyed the mystery and suspense that came with characters like Simon One.

I give this book a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I rate it this high because it was an enjoyable book, and I liked reading it. The author deserves to be commended. I did not give it a higher rating because of the negative aspects stated above. I found minimal errors in this book; it was professionally edited.

I recommend this book to fans of thrillers and crime fiction. I would also recommend this book to any lover of fiction.

Books like this leave me shaking my head. I think, “How can they not see?”, but we’re given more info than the characters. Even with the problems stated I think I’ll give it a shot.

This is a very fascinating book with an interesting plot. Though the author would really have to work on the negative sides for this book for a total satisfaction from the reader.

I immediately love the cover. The review was very comprehensive. I can't imagine reading a book of 53 chapters. Poor Deise, I do hope she survives her ordeal. Thanks for the review.
