Review: The Asylum, John Harwood

I thought this book was an entertaining read, and hard to put down, but I was disappointed by the one-dimensional characters and the neat-and-tidy ending. I would recommend it for its ability to entertain, but I wouldn't read it again. I felt Hardwood had a lot of potential to really twist a reader's mind, but he chose not to. Does anyone else agree? How would you have changed the plot or the characters?
Does anyone else have suggestions for a chilling gothic or horror story? It's approaching Halloween after all, and I like a good scare now and then!
