Thin Blue Lines by H. Beaux O'Keady is a jaw-dropping book about what happens in the life of a cop. It’s like an eye-opener to what goes on in the police department. This book explains in great detail the police system, criminals, and how they live.

After being challenged to take the cop exams, Irish was the only one among his friends who passed. He passed all the test which was required to be a cop. He was then placed on probation for a year, where he met his training officer, who put him through everything he needed to know. While on probation, Irish and Crow went on several patrols where they met and stopped bad guys.

He met and fell in love with Cricket, Ned Foley's daughter. As a patrol officer, he worked in the Dregs with Crow and his other colleagues. Once the dispatcher gives out information of any unusual happenings to any of the available officers, the officer checks it out immediately. This continued until one day when the dispatcher gave the news about an explosion that occurred at the Clover Club. What happened changed Irish's life forever. Was Irish able to catch the criminal who caused the explosion? Was he able to bring the criminal to book?

This book has a lot of positive aspects. The characters used in this book were developed and dynamic. I felt as if I could relate to these characters. This made it interesting. The plot was captivating. The story started with a challenge that changed the life of Irish forever. The narrative style was intelligent. The story naturally unfolded from chapter to chapter. The words used in the story were relatively easy to understand. I didn’t have a hard time understanding any of the words used. The book contains both elements of laughter and sadness. It has crime and suspense. The author was once an officer. So, most of the things in this book are based on true life events. This makes it all so beautiful for me. I was able to understand so many things about the police system from this book. I was so connected to the main character in this book. So much more with what happened to the love of his life; I was as devastated as he was. When he did what he did to Carnahan, I felt happy and fulfilled as he was.

I tried so hard to find a negative aspect to this book, but I found none. I found minimal grammatical errors while I read this book. This shows that it was professionally edited.

Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I did not give it a lower rating because I enjoyed this book. The language was so easy to understand. The narrative style was amazing. I recommend this book to lovers of crime novels. Anyone who enjoys reading fictional works would want this one.

A book told through the eyes of a police officer and written by a former police officer would shed a lot of life on this type of work and the kind of life a cop might lead. Thanks for your review.
