The police force is an undeniable part of the law and order system in a nation, and often we get to see its officers only when they are entirely in their position as enforcers of the law. They can hardly be related to on an average level.

This book, Finger of Suspicion, by Dale Dawson offers us a glimpse into the life of an active police officer, an average person who is seen to go through all the emotions we go through. Dawson is a young man born into a large family. He works hard and decides to join the police force. His success streak begins from his probationary period; he excels at his job and is soon made part of the police force. He begins to grow both in experience, and soon he is known both in the force and on the streets. With each team he is made a part of, Dawson works hard and helps in eradicating crime from the streets. His job isn't all easy, though, and he soon begins to face the horrors of the world, the flaws in the nation's justice system, as well as the corruption seemingly embedded in the police force.

His passion, zeal, and refusal to be bullied continues fuelling his achievements, albeit leading to some persons being unhappy with him. Soon enough, it looks like someone at the police force is out to destroy his successes and hard-gained integrity. He is faced with accusations after the other, investigations, and conspiracies to devastate his life and career. How does he cope? Does his family survive all the drama?

One positive part of this book I really liked was how it attempted to simplify police terms and slang. Most peculiar words had short descriptive notes attached, which helped me read and understand them. Again, the book was a beautiful expose to the life of a police officer. It highlights the dull and exciting moments of police officers.

I found some negative aspects of this book. The first was that the main character was almost like a superhero, going through everything super successfully; this made it somewhat unrealistic. Again, the main character seemed to flout procedural rules without any form of reprimanding constantly. Finally, some of the stories of his exploits were quite similar, and they became almost repetitive.

I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't rate it lower because the negative aspects did not take much away from the book. I found some errors in this book; however, it was professionally edited.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys gathering knowledge since I had a lovely time learning about the police. I would also recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading true stories. If you want to know more about the police, this book is for you.

I love the start of your review. Do we ever try to figure out who the police are beyond a uniform and a badge?. That's something I'll have to find out from this book. Interesting review.

Every profession has it’s boring moments. Even something that seems as exciting as being a police officer. I can certainly see how this would affect a family. Thanks for the great review!

Dale Dawson is an interesting character, but I wish the author gave him weaknesses/insecurity to make him more realistic. I find it quite hard to sympathize with him because he's way too perfect :(
Nice review!

This statement is so very true. We mostly only hear about police action when it is negative and don't usually get to see an officer as a regular person.

My curiosity has touched the zenith to eventually detect if the slur was cleared from his name and through what intelligent process he was able to overcome those challenges and recommence his life
