Kaleidoscopic Shades: Within Black Eternity by David A. Neuman is an exciting work of paranormal fiction. It takes you into a world where times could be manipulated, and a whole nation can disappear without a trace. It takes you into a world where anything and everything is possible.

Bob Triplow and his family ran away from Adelaide, where his past hunted him. He decided to live in Corona, California, where he found peace away from his past trauma. Thinking that everything was settled, he went about his life with his family forgetting everything about Adelaide.

In 2022, strange things started happening. Some of the children in Corona started dreaming about a particular man dressed in black clothes. This dream started with Joshua Triplow. Soon after that, people started disappearing. Sammy, Joshua's friend, could not be found, and Bob became frightened. After being told the solution, Bob and Joshua embarked on a journey to Adelaide to stop the mysterious man. Were they able to defeat the mysterious man? Was Joshua able to save his friend Sammy? Did the world return to normal?

This book has some positive aspects. Most of the words used in this book were relatively easy to understand because I understood the words used without any difficulty. I also learned some new words from this book. For instance, I learned words like decoupage, misnomer, sleaze, macabre, coruscating, flummoxed, and so on. I felt connected to Joshua at some point in this book. This is what I love most about the book. For instance, I felt relieved when Joshua met Malinda while he was looking for a way to get back to the other realm. I was happy when Malinda guided him back. I like the way love was portrayed in this book. Even though Sue knew about Bob's past, she still loved him. Joshua wanted to save and bring back Sammy even if he may die in the process.

This book also has some negative aspects. I wasn’t able to understand the story until I got to the middle of the book. I think the author should have arranged this work in a much more understandable way. I wouldn’t say I liked how the characters were introduced in the middle of the book. For instance, Kylie wasn’t mentioned until the ending of the book, and she was Joshua's classmate. Most of the characters weren’t developed. Even though Ruby was mentioned at the beginning of the book, I still didn’t get to know what her role was in the book. This book is quite bulky. It’s not a fast read.

I found minimal errors while I read this book. This shows that it was professionally edited. Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I did not give it a lower rating because, despite the negative aspects that I stated above, I still enjoyed the book. I would have given it a perfect rating if the author had arranged this work in a much more understandable way. I recommend this book to lovers of paranormal fiction. Generally, lovers of fiction would find this book an interesting read.

I have mixed feelings about this book because it has some elements I find intriguing but the difficulties in getting into it doesn't make it engaging. Thank you for your honest review!
