Review of Mysteries you can't put down
Mysteries you can’t put down by Brad Bennett is an amazing collection of intriguing short stories. They were very captivating and showed the complexity of a murderer’s plan and motives.
There were several short stories included in this work. They were murder mysteries that had many twists and always left you guessing. My favorite story was the first one. It featured the death of a prominent Hollywood star. He was murdered in his hotel room, and it appears that only one man entered the room. Detectives are sent to investigate further, and they indicted the man; however, it doesn’t seem right. Detectives continue to push, and they realize that they are missing key pieces of evidence. They reevaluate, and by going deep into the past, they are able to bring the actual murderer to justice in the nick of time. I also like the second story because you know who the murderer is, but you have to wait and see how the police will be able to connect the dots back. I have never read a story that did that, and I thoroughly enjoyed his new perspective.
There were many things I liked about this book. For example, I loved that it was composed of several short stories. I often find myself getting bored during long books, so this was perfect. It was fast-paced and didn’t waste time on insignificant details. The length was great. I could read it in my limited downtime and not be left wondering what happened because I finished the story. The author did a great job of making each of the stories unique. The fact that they were murder mysteries was the only thing they had in common. The stories were relatively realistic and forced the reader to enter the gray area between right and wrong.
There wasn’t really anything that I didn’t like about the book. Overall, the stories were fantastic and like no other. The book was really well-edited with no grammatical errors.
Due to the reasons stated above, I rated this book a 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes short mysteries. I think that there is something for everyone in this book, and you’re bound to love at least one of the stories. There was no foul language, and the murders weren’t too graphic, so I think this book would be appropriate for ages 13 and up.
