Secrets, mystery, suspense, thrill, revenge, and murder are just a few of what you would find in this book of fewer than two hundred pages. I loved a lot of things about this book. Dick Snyder manages to fit a lot of themes and actions into Why She Wept, and I applaud his ability to produce such an amazing book in a few pages. He employs a narrative style that is engaging yet simple and concise, allowing us to get glimpses of the characters' thoughts. Most of the secrets unraveled in the book followed this method. I particularly enjoyed the use of dramatic irony in the novel; I am confident that any reader would appreciate the author's choice of literary devices since I also appreciated the use of flashbacks in the book. The author brings current happenings into his story by talking about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual learning, and vaccination; this helps in bringing the story to life.

Sallie Drake resumes work in her new position as Dean, College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences. She hopes to make a lot of changes during her tenure and thinks about how to present her strategy to the relevant heads. Sallie appears to be bisexual and, due to a bike accident, has an injured eye and requires hearing aids. Sallie presents her strategy for improving the school; however, this does not sit well for everyone. How does Sallie handle this? Is there more to her decision? How would the heads of faculties take her decision? Read this book to find out more.

You would never see the surprises in this book coming, but the book had a few negative aspects. I felt the book was a bit fast-paced. Being a lover of mystery books, I would have appreciated a little more suspense in the book. I felt like I was getting the answers to my questions before I even asked them. The story had an amazing storyline, and it would have been more enjoyable if there had been a little more mystery. Perhaps the author intended to make the book accessible to people seeking fast reads.

Due to the negative aspect discussed above, I rate the book three out of four stars. The book was professionally edited, as I found only a few errors while reading. It also had a fantastic storyline, so I cannot deduct any other star from my rating.

I recommend this book to lovers of mystery. People looking for a fast and easy read could also look at the book. In the end, this book would go down well with people who enjoy fiction.
