Shareen's life seemed to be crumbling if it couldn't be said to be shattered already. Her husband, Daniel, had been unjustly fired from his job while trying to expose corruption amongst officers. They had had to declare themselves separated so that Shareen could live with her grandmother, Alma, and get unemployment benefits.

As if living in Alma's tiny home is not enough, Shareen gets cut off from her unemployment benefit and has to work. She remembers a letter that her mother, Veronica, had sent to her years ago informing her of her whereabouts at a place called Omniscience. This is a letter she had hidden from both her sister and her grandmother. It is not until a terrible incident occurs that some of the government's plans come to light. What are these plans? How do they affect Shareen? Is there a price for being poor? What is the relevance of Veronica's letter to Shareen's life? Can Shareen's situation get any worse? Read this exciting fiction novel to find out.

I love this book for a lot of reasons. One of them is its ability to spark questions in the mind of a reader. We have seen different movies, books, and theories about how the future will be. Sadly, none of these movies bring forward a time of peace; war is always involved, especially with robots, technological advancements, and one of my personal favorites, zombies. Is this really how the future is? Omniscience by Janine Frances covered things like government control of the media, deception, corruption, and many more. The book creates a vivid mental picture of what happens when a government becomes corrupt and gains full control; in this manner, it brings into light a world where almost all our actions are seen, monitored, and regulated by the government. The book showed the importance of citizen journalism and freedom and how wars can affect the government of a country with human rights being restricted. After reading this book, I feel more thankful for the opportunity to live in a country that respects human life. This privilege cannot be overemphasized.

The author wrote the story in a simple manner, slowly bringing the story's plot together. You would experience shock, surprise, and mystery. In eighteen error-free chapters, the author does a good job of carefully weaving our imaginations into a mind-blowing book. The fact that the book was exceptionally edited was a fantastic addition.

Although I found the storyline intriguing, it would have been better if the author had used something a bit different from what we have seen, something unique. Nevertheless, this negative aspect I found did not affect my overall enjoyment of the book. Therefore, I rate this book four out of four stars. I loved the book.

I recommend this book to lovers of nonfiction novels, sci-fi, mystery, crime, and surprise. It is a great read that would certainly be enjoyed.

Initially, I thought it was a religious book as that was what caught my attention. I want to find out the content of the letter and why it has been hidden for a long time.
