Paranormal activities are always an inclusion of demons, spirits, ghosts or beings of psychic nature. Demon Freaks by J.R.R.R.(Jim) Hardison is a narrative that relates to demons as the book title suggests. In relation to these otherworldly beings, they evoke fear, anxiety and even paranoia to some. Does Demon Freaks evoke those emotions as you peruse from one page to the other?

A night at a cabin while attempting to study for their SATs ends up as an exhilarating, life-threatening adventure. Mr.Brom, their history teacher, drags them into this after visiting the cabin with a dagger in hand attempting to kill them. Bing and Ron, the slaughter twins, together with Prathamesh "meat" disarm him taking possession of the knife. Meat is possessed by the dagger after the servants of darkness come after them. Kaitlyn one of their friends joins them, and together with him, they are captured by golfers who want to sacrifice them to summon a demon. The slaughter twins take it upon themselves to save them between fighting old golfers, going undercover as caddies, fighting teethheads using femurs and pulling gun triggers. Will they get to save them? Will the demon be released? Will they be able to pass their SATs for better futures? Read to find out.

I loved the plot of the book. The author at first portrays Mr.Brom as a bully and you may think nothing of it till reading further. It seemed surreal how all the events they went through took place in one night. Even though it took place on one night the tale unraveled itself slowly with no incredible haste.

I loved how the characters developed after experiencing everything they did. From how they went to the cabin yet Ron had an ulterior motive which was to play in the band instead of reading. He later comes to realize it was because he was afraid of his twin succeeding and leaving him behind. He apologizes for being selfish before facing a horde of teethheads.

The author also included humor in his writing. When questioning Mr.Brown about his involvement with the servants of darkness, Bing also cures his curiosity by asking if he naturally has two-toned hair. He affirms and Bing goes as far as commenting how he better not be lying. While Kaitlyn is hung upside-down all she thinks of is how she misses taking a shower. Throughout the book her most used term ends up being I knew something like this would happen.

The book is also written in a lucid descriptive manner. The author explains each and everything in detail leaving no stone unturned. The characters' fear, hope, despair, terror and confusion are well described you would fill it right along with them. Most of all I loved how the descriptions were funny to read.

There was nothing I didn't love about the book. It was also exceptionally well-edited. I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I would recommend it to anyone who loves adventures and ghost stories. Also for teenagers and young adults.

I have enjoyed your review. I like paranormal and mystical stories especially those that tell one story while depicting a reality.
