Demon Freaks, by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison, follows four high school students, Ron, Bing, Kaitlyn, and Meat. They're friends and members of a band. One night, while getting ready for a band rehearsal in Meat's family's cabin outside the town, there's an unusual storm, and Mr. Brom, their history teacher, comes to them with a dagger. He tries to assault Ron and Meat with the weapon, but fortunately, he is subdued and tied up.

Afterwards, Meat picks up the dagger from the floor and finds out that he's been possessed by the soul in the dagger, which is being sought by the "golfers," an occult group. Somehow, Meat and Kaitlyn are captured by the "golfers," who plan to sacrifice them to summon a demon.

The twins, Ron and Bing, go after Meat and Kaitlyn to rescue them but encounter dangerous situations and creatures in the "Golfers’ Association Clubhouse." Will they be able to save themselves and their friends? Besides, they have SATs (Scholastic Aptitude Test) to take the next morning, and they must have good scores.

This fast-paced book is intriguing and compelling, full of action that involve monsters and commandos. It's easy to read, and I commend the author for narrating a supernatural thriller in a clear manner. The parts involving the "teethheads" and the twins are really captivating. In addition, there are a lot of witty conversations that really entertained me. Most times, all the characters talk in an amusing way, even in trying moments. What I enjoyed most about the book is the use of psychic abilities. Furthermore, I appreciate that the story was presented from two angles, showing the twins' friends that were captured and the twins' journey to save their friends.

There's nothing I don't like about Demon Freaks. It's full of suspense and intrigue, having interesting twists and turns. The story got into another level when the secret agents joined in the fight against dangerous occult organizations. Moreover, readers who don't like books about demons and psychic control may want to skip this one.

Regarding the characters, they're interesting. The author describes them well, and they are lifelike, even the monsters. He gives enough information about their personalities and backgrounds. The twins are unique, and I love how they always agree to disagree.

Overall, I rate Demon Freaks 4 out of 4 stars. I couldn't give it a lower rating since it's well written and entertaining. Besides, it was exceptionally well edited; I didn't notice any grammar errors or typos. It'll be a great read for fans of supernatural thrillers.
