Dysfunction by Guy Robin is in the C/T/M/H genre, and it tells the story of Peter and his wife, Helen, and how they strive to survive on an island where pandemic restrictions are very tight.

Peter and his wife Helen had planned to spend their holiday on a Scottish island. There, they found out they were experiencing a pandemic, and there were restrictions put in place by the government. One of the restrictions included not going out and that everybody is expected to stay indoors. Apart from the pandemic, people were also stealing goods and provisions to feed their families, so the couple had to keep themselves safe from the spreading illness. How would the couple survive the pandemic in a strange environment? And how will they find the resources to sustain themselves during their stay?

The book is full of adventures and survival tactics implemented by Peter and his wife. The lockdown was a serious one they had to obey since the disease was spreading like wildfire and killing many people. From their stay in the hotel they had lodged in, they moved to a safer place since the workers at the hotel had also fled to safety. They took some food items that they believed could sustain them for some time, then they headed north using a boat and landed on a small island. Despite seeing a place to stay, they did not stay there permanently but continued to move from place to place, taking food and other essential resources with them. The reader is kept on edge, as he would witness the most tensive moments in the book throughout these periods. Their adventures and the security measures they used in taking food were quite interesting.

The book is well-written, and I love how it relates to our time. I also love the couple, Peter and Helen, especially Peter, who had to ensure that he and his wife were well secured and had something to eat. Peter and Helen heard the news that food would soon be distributed to people, but since they lived in a remote area, Peter knew that the food would not reach them. So he urged his wife that they should continue searching for food. I also love how they fought to fend for themselves by using their initiative. I have nothing negative to say against this book. It was also edited professionally.

Based on my reading experience and the absence of multiple errors, I would like to rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I would gladly recommend this book to lovers of books relating to the global pandemic. Those who wished to be encouraged on how to go through such periods as this could also read this book.

I'm not sure I want to read a book in which the pandemic is so important right now but the setting and the plot sound intriguing. Thank you for your great review!

This book is very relatable in todays society. When the pandemic hit people grabbed toilet paper over food. It sounds like this book will clarify why food and water should be your fist choose. I am adding this to my bookshelf. Great Review!
