Most times than not, it is not strange to find trouble in paradise. Reid Garrett is a charming individual and one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. He also has the personality and the good looks, which boost his career in the acting field. Behind this facade, Reid is also a ruthless exploiter, rapist, and killer. He uses these talents to prey on the rich and celebrities of Hollywood by holding their scandalous secrets over them.

Dark Vanity by Gregory E. Seller is a thriller that narrates the dark details and secrets of Reid’s true nature. Everything changes when he crosses Alton’s path. After Reid’s agent falls victim to his tricks, he hires Alton Price, a former CIA agent and a popular ‘fixer’ with a reputation for making problems go away for those willing to pay enough to end Reid’s extortion and protect his secrets. Everything seems easy till it is discovered that Reid has potent allies supporting his agenda. What happens when it is proved that everything is not as it seems and not everyone is who they say they are? Find out more in this suspense-filled thriller.

I found some positive aspects to this book. I enjoyed the dynamic plot, and I was nearly unable to put the book down. The story adopts a complex mixture of character relationships and clandestine affairs capable of sustaining anyone’s interest while reading the entire novel. I also enjoyed the author’s steady approach to revealing specific details, which increased the suspense in the story and kept me at the very edge of my seat. The book also highlights the dangers of drug use and addiction, which was a significant factor during the course of this book.

The book was of moderate length, and it utilizes simple diction with seasoned vocabulary. It also features unique characters, well-rounded with perfectly balanced emotions. Alton, for example, was portrayed as a classic vigilante, neither perfect nor cliché. He was good at his job and cared for others but still made mistakes like any other person. This made the book relatable. The book adopts a dark theme of betrayal and mistrust, though there are still underlying happy moments, like some scenes with Blair and Cameron.

The climax of the book was perfect, in my opinion, because it was able to capture certain critical elements without lowering the moral of the story. I am happy to note that I could not find any grammatical errors while reading this book, which is proof of exceptional editing. The story is told from a third-person narrative, which gives more insight into the characters and their actions. I did not find anything negative to say about this book.

As a result of these reasons listed above, I rate this book four out of four stars. I recommend this book to anyone interested in mystery thrillers and adventure fiction. Also, I recommend it to anyone that enjoys fast-paced thrillers and suspense novels.

Reid had everything working out well for him. Why did he involve himself into crime? I just don't understand.

This is one of the most interesting books i have read a review about thus far. The story line is just so catchy and seems real. Reid seems to be an intelligent criminal who uses his strength to torment people at their weakness. But there is always an end to wicked people. Im looking forward to reading this book

"Everything is not as it seems and not everyone is who they say they are". This quote caught my attention. Reid has an underlying motive to exploit his colleagues that trusted him with their secrets. What an irony! This book has a lot of life lessons.
