Noodles by Jay W. Gould is a comedic horror-thriller novel that revolves around a town where there is an outbreak of an infection that affects humans and changes them into monsters. The story describes the destruction brought on by the monsters in the town and how the people in the town tried to fight back against the monsters.

The book begins with a couple who are at their home. In the morning, after they wake up, the wife kills the man. Officers are patrolling and notice something different about the family yard and go in to investigate the matter. They see the woman in the house transform into a monster and shoot at her before she can attack them. This causes quite a stir in the town as there has been no murder in the town for a while. The sheriff is investigating the matter just as there is a report of another dead body in the town. This is where the entire plot starts unfolding.

The use of imagery in the novel was well done. The portrayal of the entire novel was exceptionally done, from describing the characters to describing the monsters, to the description of the events and actions that took place in the novel. The entire setting of the story occurred within two days. The setting was efficiently utilized by the author, as it seemed to happen within a linger timeframe but was not. The suspense in the novel started building right from the beginning of the novel to its climax; the use of foreshadowing helped in the build-up of the suspense. The comedic relief was also efficiently utilized by the author, as there was enough comedy to enrich my reading experience but not too much to seem forced and change the mood of the novel. The author rationalized the monsters. It made the story somewhat more realistic as the monsters tried to be grounded in science. The book was also exceptionally well edited because I did not find any errors in it.

The only negative thing I saw in the book is that some of the characters acted irrationally at times. They behaved differently from the way people are meant to act in such situations. It seemed like a way to continue the plot of the book. However, it made the story unbelievable since an average human would make such choices in the face of such situations or danger.

I rate the book a four out of four stars. The book had most of the elements of a suspense novel, from the strong characters to the dilemma, to the high stakes, to the speed of the novel even down to the foreshadowing and the overall atmosphere of the novel. The author did a wonderful job in this book and, as such, deserves all the credit and praise.

I recommend this novel to people who are into horror, suspense, and thriller novels, as the book contains all that and more.

Thanks for the review. I don't usually read horror stories, but this one sounds intriguing, and I'm curious how the humor works into it. I'm also impressed that all the action takes place in only two days.

Noodles? What an interesting title! I would really like to know how that inserts itself into the story. I am also interested to find out more about a virus that turns good people into monsters. Just the kind of story thatI would like.

Horror books are not actually my strength. I do not enjoy reading them at all so I may have to pass on this. However, it seems like an amazing thriller with a lot of suspense. I would have loved to know how this story develops.

Horror genres are usually avoided by me but one with comedy might seem appealing. Maybe I would check it out. Thanks for the review.
