[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Static Charge" by Thomas Smith.]
Professor John Northrup was born more special than most people. His parents, Paul and Sharon Northrup, are both professors. John never wishes to become like his father, who spends most of his time consumed with his inventions. John meets the love of his life, Mary, and dreams of a perfect life with her. His dreams are shattered when he is forced to join the US forces led by his best friend, Lieutenant Brad Johnson, to take down Conrad Mueller, a power-hungry man whose goal is to bring Germany back to its "glory days" (the days of Hitler). Mueller sets out to use Paul Northrup's invention to rule Germany and the rest of the world. Will it be possible to stop Mueller from destroying the world? Find out from Static Charge by T.E. Smith.
I loved how detailed the book was. Everything was explained to the very last detail making it very easy to comprehend. Also, I loved the strong personalities of the characters portrayed in the book. Another thing I really admired was the many great lessons the book passed. From the General’s humility to Brad to his men’s patriotism and selflessness and, of course, their ability to take risks, all of these traits are worthy of emulation. I loved how educative the book was on the fields of science and the military. Static Charge taught me things I didn't know before reading the book. Furthermore, I loved how the author stressed the need for strategic thinking and planning before embarking on anything; this could save one a lot of trouble. I had a hard time putting down the book as it piqued my curiosity. Generally, T.E. Smith did an excellent job with Static Charge
I didn’t quite appreciate that there were a lot of errors in the book. My reading was affected by the errors. Also, some parts of the book were very explicit, which made me a bit uncomfortable while reading. Aside from these, I found the book to be a very thrilling page-turner and also very well written.
Owing to the very few dislikes and my sheer admiration for the author’s work, I would rate Static Charge by T.E. Smith three out of four stars. It was a simple yet thrilling and enlightening story. I deducted a star because of the errors I found in the book.
I recommend this book to lovers of science fiction and thriller novels. Also, to those who love to engage their curiosity, this book is for you. Anyone willing to be enlightened on topics relating to patriotism and selflessness should read this book.
