Mysteries You Can’t Put Down by Brad Bennet is a brilliant composition of eight thrilling short stories sure to leave audiences in absolute awe, begging for more. These delightful stories carry a literary range that is seldom shown by most modern-day authors. Through these wonderful short stories, Bennet explores themes of murder, mayhem, and intrigue through incredibly complex characters and vivid imagery that results in a masterful rendering of these mysteries.

A man on a mission to solve a nearly airtight case involving zombies, Hollywood, and a beautiful vintage hotel; A couple of winemakers caught up in a battle for self-preservation in the midst of a murder investigation; and the struggle of two golfers against an egotistical millionaire that they placed a bet against. These are the types of profoundly entertaining adventures readers can be expected to be whisked away with when reading from this collection of intriguing tales. I highly recommend this collection of stories to anyone who has an appreciation for classic mysteries with unpredictable plot twists. Additionally, the character depth in all of the stories is clearly

While this book was clearly written as a product of much time and careful thought, I feel that some of the stories ended too quickly. That is not to say that they were bad or not enjoyable, however, I do believe that there could be more depth. This would simply fill in some minor, yet crucial details that could make the stories feel more realistic in some ways.

I am happy to award this book 4 out of 4 stars because of its beautifully developed collection of stories, vivid imagery, and life-like characters. This book was clearly professionally edited as there were incredibly few errors in punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Finally, the subtlety and depth with which the author was able to explore the underlying themes while staying true to the plot solidify my conclusion of a four-star rating.

I would recommend this book to more mature audiences. It could certainly qualify as appropriate for a younger audience, however, due to some of the graphic scenes and potentially inappropriate language in the stories, I feel that mature audiences would be able to appreciate the book more. Additionally, I feel that lovers of classic detective stories would appreciate the first few stories. However, if that is not your preferred genre fear not. This collection also has fantastic stories full to the brim with supernatural activity and pensive psychological thrillers.
