Simon was a family-oriented man who lived in the small township of Greenrock. Shortly after being turned into a vampire, he craved blood, had excellent night vision, and possessed more powers than a normal human being. As a newly turned vampire, he had little control over his urges and would sometimes unintentionally display his newly found superpowers. Residents of Greenrock soon accused him of witchcraft. The community brought him before the local pastor, Pastor Brown, who immediately banished him from the township.

Simon begrudgingly left his family behind and went to New York to start a new life far away from his hometown. Fortunately for Simon, his new life turned out well, and he became a wealthy and respected man. Centuries later, Simon and Pastor Brown’s paths crossed. This time around, Pastor Brown was now a vampire, and he was on a mission to create an army of vampires by turning humans into vampires. Brown’s vision was to wipe out most humans so vampires could reign and leave just enough humans for vampires to feed on. Simon wanted vampires to continue living among humans secretly, and opposed the pastor’s mission and vision. Simon and Pastor Brown eventually went into war with each other. Read Legion of God by Jason West to find out whether Simon or Pastor Brown’s faction came out victorious and the implications of the war on vampires and humans.

I liked how the characters in this novel were well developed and multifaceted. The main characters led exciting lifestyles and were well-rounded. The scent, physique, skin tone, and accents are some elements of the characters that the author creatively described to bring the characters to life.

The book is 804 pages long and has 126 well-partitioned chapters. Despite the book being lengthy, it was engaging and enthralling. I have watched movies and read a few books on vampires, but the originality of the storyline sucked me into the book until the very last page. There are common elements found in other vampire stories that also feature in this book, but the authors’ angle in the book is unique.

There were a few questionable aspects in this novel, but not enough to be classified as negative aspects. There were no aspects that I disliked. Readers must note that the book contains graphic scenes of violence and vulgar terms.

I came across over ten errors in this book. However, compared to the length of this book, the errors were negligible. It is, therefore, safe to conclude that the book was professionally edited.

I award this novel a well-deserved 3 out of 4 stars. I deducted a star because errors in the book were over ten and awarded it three full stars because it was an action-packed and engaging read.

I recommend this book to readers who enjoy vampire action thriller novels. The novel has an exciting, balanced, and electrifying dose of horror, fantasy, and science fiction. Readers who like action, horror, and thrillers will delight in this novel.

I don’t know much about vampires and have never really been interested in reading a vampire novel. However, I didn’t think I’d like novels about zombies and I just finished another book in a series I’m reading about them. I guess I just need to try one and your review makes this sound like the one I should start with.

I had a feeling that simeon live will turn out better but to my greatest shock its the same pastor that banished him that became the vampire. How did the fight turn out? Great review.

I have never enjoyed books, or anything really, that has to do with vampires. The book has a great plot though and I am sure fans of this genre will enjoy it. You did a great job on the review.

I like that the author developed the characters so well :) Although, vampires are not my preferable topic. Plus the book seems to be too long. Thank you very much for an insightful review!
