Review of Without Redemption
Without Redemption by David Griffith is an interesting crime thrilling book that delves into the life and ordeals of Lonnie Bowers. Without Redemption is the third book in the border series. The book contains 292 pages, and it is divided into forty-two chapters. Lonnie Bowers is a young intelligent married man who works for a private organization, Stirling Associates. The book starts with the horse competition and the arm injury that happened after the competition. The injury implied that Lonnie will not be able to sufficiently care for his wife, Clarissa, and his six-month-old son, Conor. At the hospital, Frederick Roseman came to visit, and he assured Lonnie of a job that will help him in his injured state. The second chapter of this book talks about the vacation gift that the organization offered to Lonnie and his family. He did not want to accept the vacation because it involved a reconnaissance mission that he has to do in Costa Rica, but his wife's opinion made him accept the vacation offer. The third chapter of this book talks about Paolo. He is a hitman for the Sinaloa cartel, and he was trained by Lorenzo Estrada before joining the special guards of Joaquín Guzman, the leader of the Sinaloa cartel. The reconnaissance mission that Lonnie went for involves the finalization of the deal that was made between Stirling Associates and Joaquín Guzman. Towards the end of the deal between Guzman and Lonnie, there was an attack and Guzman believes that the attack was orchestrated by Lonnie. Will Lonnie be able to escape from Joaquín Guzman? How does the reconnaissance mission affect the safety of Lonnie's family? Who orchestrated the attack on Joaquín Guzman?
Without Redemption by David Griffith is an intriguing crime thrilling book that was written obviously with two narratives, first-person and third-person, switching between Lonnie and Paolo respectively. The author did a good job of using understandable words to describe the characters' emotions, environment, and actions. I flowed well with the story from the beginning to the end. The author did a good job of characterization, and I love his writing style.
One of the things I learned from this book is the fact true love comes with endurance and perseverance. I love how the story ended, and I learned that it is necessary to endure in the face of hardship and pain. I admire the love between Lonnie and Clarissa, and I also love the author's statement about God's providence in Paolo's adventure.
I enjoyed every aspect of this book. I did not notice any negative aspects while reading. In my opinion, the author did sufficient character development for the major characters in this book. However, I was hoping to find out more about Stirling Associates and its mode of operation. I think the previous books in this series will have the information that I need, and I believe that this work of fiction can be read as a standalone book.
This book was well written. In my opinion, this book was professionally edited. I noticed two grammatical errors while reading this book.
Love is a strong feeling that prompts endurance and hope. I learned a lot of lessons from this crime thrilling book, and I will recommend this fascinating work of fiction to lovers of fiction and crime thrilling stories. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars due to the few points mentioned above and because of the characterization of the book.
