I thoroughly enjoyed reading, The Date Farm: Lara and Uri Book 4, by Jack Winnick. The book includes action, violence, espionage, traitors, and a hint of romance. It starts with a bang as it opens with a terrorist attack on a Beverly Hills mall. Lara and Uri, a married couple, are brought in to help the United States bring down the Islamic terrorist group responsible for the attack. The two agents have a unique history with one of the group’s leaders, Sheikh Zainal Abidin, and the book follows the couple and the Sheikh as they continuously try to outmaneuver one another.

The book is very well written and edited, and immediately draws you in with action from the very first page. The author describes with rich detail the characters and places within the book, helping the reader to connect with each character and vividly imagine the different places around the world that the characters travel to. Winnick combines facts and fiction to create a believable story that you just cannot put down!

The story is told from different characters’ points of view including the protagonists and antagonists. While the book has plenty of action, I did find some parts of the book from the Sheikh’s perspective to move a bit slow. Although, the slow sections were minimal, and the storyline quickly picked up with more action and adventure.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is a well written book with minimal errors. Although this is the fourth book in the series, Winnick does a great job making it feel like a stand-alone book. I typically like to start with the first book in a series so that I can fully understand the storyline, but Winnick remarkably gives you all the details you need so you don’t feel like you have missed anything at all from any of the previous books. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this series.

I would recommend this book to adults and young adults. There is no profanity or sexual content, but due to the nature of the book there is quite a bit of violence and death. However, I did not find it to be overly gruesome. I enjoy action, but sometimes the gore can overshadow the action and it is hard to read. Winnick did an excellent job including enough details without being too grisly.
