Review of E M P Honeymoon
When you say I do to your significant other, the next thing on your mind will probably be a honeymoon. You will probably be thinking about the many adventures you and your new spouse will embark on. You are no different from Kerry. This new wife traveled to a vacation spot with her new husband. While shopping in a small shop, she discovered that a group of terrorists was planning to invade the USA. Why would they want to do that? What did the USA ever do to them? To answer these questions, Tome, her husband, had to be drawn into the mix. An adventure that will change their lives forever has started. These terrorists must be stopped. But how can they do so without drawing too much attention to themselves? This new journey of theirs can only end in one of two ways – victory or death. Their actions in the coming days will determine their fate.
I am not sure what genre E M P Honeymoon belongs to. It addressed the lengths some power-hungry dictators will go to defeat the whole world. The story in this book seemed so real. I would not be surprised if the author said this was based on a true story.
I liked that Dorothy May Mercer wrote about the thoughts of the US president when he realized that his country was a target. I enjoyed the interactions in the war room, the jokes, and the tension. I also enjoyed having a peek into the activities of the White House. I do not know if the book describes things the way they are done, but I did not mind because the parts where I got to see the White House staff at work are my favorite parts of the book. They are what I liked the most in E M P Honeymoon.
One of the things I disliked so much in the book is the cluelessness of one of the terrorists’ leaders. I do not believe that a terrorist platoon leader who was said to be one of the best soldiers in the organization could be careless in her interactions with people. I will not mention the name of what exactly happened so that I will not spoil the book for you. I want to say I was appalled that Dorothy May Mercer did not take that character seriously. It was sad that that character was making blunders that nobody on a mission would make. It does not make sense.
E M P Honeymoon was edited exceptionally. I loved the thrill the story gave me. I liked the tension that came with some scenes. However, I was disappointed at the ridiculousness of the events that surrounded the undercover terrorist. It seemed like Dorothy May Mercer did not give much thought to what was realistic when she was writing that part. Because of all these, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to readers that have read and loved many of Dorothy May Mercer’s books. I also recommend it to readers that want to read books that show terrorists at work.
