Review of Demon Freaks
[Following is a volunteer review of "Demon Freaks" by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison.]
DEMON FREAKS
Written by J.R.R.R (Jim ) Hardison, Demon Freaks is a book that impacts on how unity, faith , love , honesty and bravery is used as tools to fight forces of evil and wicked motives. The twins , Ron and Bing slaughter are brothers while Kaitlyn and meat are their classmates. Ron , Bing and Meat are in a musical band called Ephits Kaitlyn is a childhood friend who has been with the slaughter brothers since kindergarten. The story begins when Ron decides that they together with Meat will study at Meats cabin. As they wait for Kaitlyn the electricity goes off because of a bad weather. In the darkness Bing peeks out the window and sees someone. Soon they are attacked by Mr Brom their mean history teacher who is holding a dagger that sucks souls and is chanting demonic words. They tie Mr Brom with two guitar cables soon the servants of darkness. The dagger possess Meat and he took off but soon Kaitlyn appears with her microbus and the twins escape . Kaitlyn and Meat are captured by the golfers as sacrificial lambs , the sacrifice is meant to summon a demon for the purpose of gaining power . The twins with the help of Mr Brom find the hidden door into the clubhouse. Mr Brom left them alone in a library and they are taken to the head of the golfers but they escape and find themselves inside a tunnel where there were monsters called the teethheads . They both fight the monsters and they are badly wounded and when the fight gets intense they Bing goes unconscious. The female comandos from the McDonald's Occult Danger Division come to their rescue as they are in a mission inside the tunnels. They are taken to the head quarters by the leader of the comandos, Blue , and they fin out that their parents are the top authorities in the organisation. Ron, Bing , meat and Kaitlyn all attain psychic powers which they use to communicate in secrecy . The twins with the help of a team from the organisation go back to the club house to rescue Meat and Kaitlyn before the sacrificial ceremony. Meat and Kaitlyn are finally safe but Intel comes in that Mr Brom is nowhere to be found and the dagger is missing. Will they find Mr Brom and does the dagger now have two souls ? Who took the demon blade?
The author impacts on the purpose of friendship as there is the will to help friends even in danger as we see Ron and Bing. They risk their lives twice but still nothing stops them from getting their friends to safety. Demon Freaks has so much humour that even in danger the twins manage to express their humour. Ron wants to carry a flashlight all his life when the one used In the tunnels get dim and Bing remembers the SATs exams while they are tied . The author expressed the importance of combat unity where Blue coordinates the others Red and Yellow for a successful mission . The three fought monsters and came back to the headquarters alive and having rescued Ron and Bing. The author used suspense to give the reader a yearn to read what will happen next . This makes the book captivating and readers get glued to find out more.
There is use of profane and vulgar language in the story. Mr Brom uses abusive words like stupid , imbecile and bastard while addressing Bing and Ron in his anger to get untied. There is blasphemy where Bing asks if God is a jerk and Mr Brom says young people having the habit of calling the name of that unfortunate carpenter who died on the cross. There is use of repetition, Bing kept saying about destiny , Kaitlyn kept saying she knew it had to be something like that and Blue kept saying for the success of my mission.
Demon Freaks is a thrilling book with refreshing chapters full of adventure , danger and expectations . I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it captures the eyes of readers . Despite having vulgar, the book inspired readers to find out , learn about new things and words hence its captivating.
Demon Freaks is mostly suitable for an audience that loves exploring, adventure , mystery, danger and fiction . It's a book for young adults as they enjoy exploring new chapters in life.
