In the year 2040, Pulse is a major corporation that essentially controls the lives of the majority of individuals around the world. The company is run by individuals who value money over everything else, and they have been committing heinous acts in the name of making a profit. The majority of the population is blissfully unaware of the crimes of this corporation, as a result of Pulse controlling the content that their users have access to. This story starts in the days leading up to PulseFest, a music festival with the aim of further promoting Pulse. This story is told from multiple points of view, all of which are extremely different and allow the reader to gain a clear and cohesive picture of what life is like in this world run by Pulse.

Pulse: Book One by B.A. Bellec is an extremely well-written dystopian thriller and it provides an important message for the world that we live in. This story portrays the dangers of capitalism, materialism, and technology and its impact on the way that humans live. This book was engaging – it had me hooked from the very first page and it only got more interesting as the plot unfolded. I found the format of the book very interesting and suitable for the book’s contents. An example of this was that the dialogue in the story was presented in a screenplay format, which gave a more eerie feel to the story.

The one negative aspect of this book for me was that the author kept adding new points of view to the story, especially towards the end. I felt like I had to keep reorienting myself to the story every time this happened. I understand that the author’s intention by doing this was to provide a comprehensive insight as to what exactly was happening, but it disrupted the flow of the story in my opinion. However, this was not such a big problem for me that it would lower my rating of the book.

This book has been professionally edited and I did not come across any errors while reading. Additionally, the book was brilliantly written and had a great plot that progressed slowly but allowed the reader to become fully immersed in the story. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars .

I would recommend Pulse: Book One to fans of dystopian, thriller, or horror books, as well as individuals who enjoy conspiracy theories. It is important to note, however, that this book does contain extremely graphic descriptions that may be triggering to some.
