Without Redemption by David Griffith follows the life of Lonnie, an Intelligence Agent whose specialty is busting the drug crime world. Lonnie is sent by his boss on a mission in Costa Rica where he has to perform a task that seems simple enough: to get some papers at a summit. Lonnie knows how dangerous his job is and hence hesitates to take this offer, but with convincing from his wife Clarissa, he accepts the offer and sets out on the mission. While on the mission, a horrible turn of events takes place that leads to Lonnie being pursued by a dangerous drug cartel. Lonnie tries to save his family but his family ends up in the wrong hands and Lonnie has to figure out a way to bring his family to safety despite all the injuries he has. Read this great book to see what happens to Lonnie and his family. Will they be brought to safety?

The first thing I loved about this book are the strong family values that it presents. Lonnie and Clarissa’s relationship was very strong and showed a form of commitment and love that I could not help but admire. Lonnie was very committed to bringing his family to safety, and the lengths he went to were great simply because he loved his family and he wanted them to be safe. Clarissa’s character reminded me a lot of my mother. I found myself relating to her character more and more and just marveling at how most of what she said would be the exact things my mother would say. This link between Clarissa’s character and my mother made the book gain a more personal touch for me, which ultimately made me enjoy the book more. Clarissa’s little quirks, like how she would seem annoying at times just made me fall in love with her even more. I found myself giggling on more than one occasion on how she nagged Lonnie.

I also loved the morals shown by Clarissa. I definitely appreciated that the book had a religious side to it. I always love a book that gives some religious insight as I believe that I always have room for spiritual growth. Some of the strong morals Clarissa showed were really inspiring to me and I appreciated them. The author developed the characters very well and gave enough backstory for me to know where they came from and where they were going. This character development, especially with Clarissa, helped to make the twist in the book all the more thrilling. It showed that the story and everything in it were well thought out.

The fast pace of this novel is also something that is worth admiring. I have to admit that at first, I thought this book was going to be boring. The first few pages did nothing to draw my attention but as I kept on reading, I got invested into the story. The story moved along fast enough to keep me engaged every step of the way. There was some suspense that made my heart beat a little faster as I wondered what would be happening next to Lonnie. The strong theme of drug abuse that is present throughout the book is also noteworthy as it shows how devastating drugs can be to people’s lives. This will hopefully deter anyone who reads this book from turning to a life of drugs in whatever way. I have to say that this book was action-packed in the best way possible. The action scenes were very descriptive and painted a very good mental picture of what was happening. The author really is a wordsmith. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

I found nothing in particular that is worth mentioning as a dislike. Every part of the story came together well for me. The editing was impeccable as I found no errors in the book. I rate this book a well deserved 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend this read to audiences who enjoy a mix of romance, action and family themed reads. Readers who are fascinated by the drug world will also get a kick out of reading this book.
