Review of Pulse: Book One
Pulse: Book One by B.A. Bellec is a sci-fi horror thriller set in the near future. Set in the year 2040, this novel revolves around a company called "Pulse" which controls the lives of each and every citizen.
Pulse has all the power in terms of technology and it is the creator of the P-7500 robots, which are basically assistants for humans. The corporation is run by amoral people and greedy people. For marketing purposes, it organises the world's biggest musical festival, which they named 'Pulse Fest'. On the contrary, a revolutionary group is planning to destroy the fest and showcase the true face of Pulse. Moreover, a horrifying monster appears on the day of the festival. This story is about the dirty politics and the greed of the authorities. The story is full of twists and turns, and the description of the dreadful scenes will send chills down your spine.
The best thing about the book was the use of multiple characters, which made the book really interesting. The description of the monsters and sci-fi horror has been done really well. The author talks about the probable future of technology, gadgets and techniques, which intrigued me a lot. B.A. Bellec also shared quotes at the start of each part. The inclusion of the present life events made the future described look more realistic.
Overall, it was a thrilling, horrifying and unpredictable read. The interesting characters chosen and the sci-fi events narrated added to a good read. There are many unanswered questions which might be answered in the upcoming part. The author provided knowledge about politics, government and business. The readers will find themselves questioning many of today's life activities that damage the environment.
There is nothing about this book to dislike. The multiple points of view of characters might be disturbing for some people initially, but eventually when there will be twists and turns , the format won't be a problem. Also, the description of violence and death can be a trigger.
There were only one or two errors I found while reading this book, which means it has been very well edited. I loved the overall reading experience of this book, so I rate this awesome work 4 out of 4 stars.
I recommend this book to people who are fans of sci-fi, horror and thriller genres and enjoy multiple points of view. People who love learning about future technology and gadgets will also love this book. Overall, if you are looking for a breathtaking, frightening, and suspenseful ride, go for it!
