Rocking Hamm is a book written by J.C. Hunt based on his life experiences. Jack was born into a large Catholic family. With his parents being next to absent, he was typically raised by his older brothers. This resulted in him picking up some abnormal habits, like smoking, at a very young age. He was closest to his brother, David, though. David always had Jack's back. He was always there to play with him, make him study, and, most importantly, develop his interest and passion for music.

When the two of them finally decided to strike out on their own and form a band, David became involved in some illegal activities, which resulted in his murder by arson. The police couldn't find the killer; the trail ran cold. Jack fell into depression. He tried to pick up the pieces, but it seemed the hurt never left him. He always felt like he wasn't doing enough. Even in his marriage, this was the case. Ten years after this incident, detective Stacy Lee reaches out to Jack to help crack the case and catch the killer involved in his brother's death by going undercover. Will Jack agree to this? What lies in store for him following his decision? Will he find the redemption his soul needs? Read on to find out.

I was awestruck while reading this book. Jack went through a lot in a short amount of time. I cannot imagine how he had to cope after his brother and mentor, David, passed away. I enjoyed reading this story. Although there were some tragic moments, there was also a lot of humor, such as the incident involving Sammy that cost them the band competition. That was quite a funny incident. The author's writing style is beautiful. He is not only a talented musician but also a good writer, as we saw in this book. The book is indistinctly told in two parts; the first part talks about Jack's early life, while the second part focuses on the efforts of the police in cracking the case. The grammar used was relatively easy too.

The only thing I disliked about this book was the arrangement, although this was my preference. It highlights some of the events that occur at the end first before the beginning proper. I think this would build suspense for the rest of the story. Reading the parts that highlighted Corbin's life growing up from his perspective opened my eyes to the terrible effect sexual abuse can have on a growing child. Parents should listen to and believe their children when they complain about these things. I encountered a few errors while reading this book. They did not affect my reading experience, though.

Rocking Hamm receives a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars from me. I love its realistic mode of delivery. It was an eye-opener. I believe readers would enjoy spending time on this book. It was also professionally edited. I recommend this book to adult readers interested in action, thrillers, and crime books. Those who love non-fiction can pick this up as well. This is because the story touches on true-life events in the author's life. However, I must warn you that this story contains profanities and murder themes. If this is something you consider before selecting a book, then this book might not be for you.

A touching story with a lot of feelings and emotions. I understand how sad it can be to drag a lot of negative emotions into a marriage. Hopefully, the case gets solved, so I'll read this book to find out. Beautiful review.

For the most part, brothers are great! They almost always have your back when it's needed the most.

This seems to be an interesting plot with an exciting storyline. I wish Jack could find his brother's killer. The loss of one's only life buddy is not easy at all.

This novel includes sensitive topics based on the author's real-life experiences. I'm not sure I feel like reading this kind of tough drama but it seems well-constructed. Thank you for your great review!
