Review of The Date Farm
The Date Farm by Jack Winnick is the fourth book in the series that follows Uri & Lara. This fast-paced suspense thriller beats all the previous books hands-down. It starts with a terrorist group opening fire in a busy Los Angeles mall. The crowd was full of young people watching a live musical performance when ten suicide bombers entered the mall unnoticed. Once in place, the terrorists pull out their automatic weapons, showering the crowd with bullets, killing and injuring many before taking their own lives.
FBI agent Lara Edmond and Mossad agent Uri Levin, a newly married couple, received the urgent call in the middle of the night. They needed the two agents in Los Angeles to help track down the terrorist group behind this mass shooting. The two agents quickly learned that this was only a prelude to a much larger-scale attack that the terrorist leader, Sheik Zainal Abidin, was planning. Sheik first tampered with the government's communication system to help him gain access to the Federal Reserve and Chase Manhattan Bank. A precious metal used to make American military blades that gave America an advantage in battle, was to be stolen.
There is nothing negative I have to say about this book. From beginning to end, it kept my attention. I found this to be a page-turner that was nearly impossible to put down. All the while keeping you wanting more, it will make your head spin. Action, mystery, and suspense abound in this story, and just when you think you have it figured out, the plot thickens. The story includes visits to a mall shooting, an Ohio farm, a tunnel under the banks in Los Angeles, a date farm, and the White House.
Winnick has outdone himself in this brilliant book. If this was a movie, he would receive a standing ovation. What I love about this book series is the teamwork of Uri and Lara. In the previous books, they were only part of the story, but now they were finally front and center. This book is well-written, error-free, and very enjoyable to read.
This book kept me engaged from beginning to end. The storyline was brilliant and well thought out; the plot was astounding and for those reasons. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. Anyone who enjoys suspense, mystery, or a crime thriller should read this book.
