This book, E M P Honeymoon, by Dorothy May Mercer, revolves around the adventures of Kelly McBride and her beau, Sgt. Tom Turbulo whilst on their honeymoon in the Caribbean. Kelly runs into some suspicious activity while exploring the town; following her gut, she immediately alerts the US authorities after confiding in her husband. Following some reconnaissance, they both uncover a sinister plot and proceed to swing into action.

On the other side of the world, Dear Leader and General Lee have managed to craft a splendid plan to usher them into world dominance. With a stellar team, military precision orders, and the good ol’ element of secrecy, they’re unstoppable. Will this be the case? Or do they have some surprises that await their colossal mission?

This book is the perfect representation of an action-packed yet refreshing story of a race to save the world. The author brilliantly introduces the reader to interesting characters such as Steve Somebody, Aggie, and Sharon, who shine through the plot with rich dialogues and fun personalities. The book is written in easy language with a sprinkle of military and scientific jargon; however, this does not confuse the reader in any way. The plot was well executed, and the climax and conflicts were resolved in a timely way to avoid the story from stretching longer than necessary. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Despite the beautiful plot execution, I found some negative aspects in the book. For instance, there were so many characters! This made it quite difficult to keep up with each of them as the author tried to make all characters significant in some way. Also, I felt the conflict resolution was too easy, I expected some sort of prolonged adversity, but that was not the case.

E M P Honeymoon was an interesting read, with very few errors along the way. I will rate the book 4 out of 4 stars based on the simple and entertaining storyline. I will highly recommend it to readers 12 years and above and also for lovers of military, spy, and action genres.
