The Reluctant Assassin by Peter Moore follows the story of Delphine. Her journey as an escort comes to an end when her attempt to extract information from Count Igor goes wrong. After her first murder, she's offered a job to become an assassin. While she doesn't want to remain a murderer, her kids are in danger. The only way she can protect them is by working for the M16. As much protection as this brings, it exposes her to more danger. The Angel of Death kidnaps Delphine's children, and the ransom is Delphine's life. Can Delphine save her life? Find out by reading this book.

Each chapter in this book had an interesting focus. If Delphine was not in danger, then it was her kids. I liked the suspense each chapter possessed. I felt that the resolution in each chapter was very satisfying. Reading this book was like being on a journey, and it was an enjoyable ride. The description and narration of this story were great. I liked that I could have a look into each character's thoughts. The narration was holistic.

With all the suspense and action, reading about Delphine's kids infused some sort of warmth into this book. I liked the way they played and the way their mother responded to them. They were so active, and it was funny that Delphine referred to them as "my little horrors". A mother's love is always a beautiful thing to see. As involved as Delphine was in a dangerous world, it was interesting to see that she loved her kids with all her heart and was willing to do anything for their safety. In addition, the scientific part of this book gave it a dynamic perspective. Descriptions about phones which could power cars, homes, and smart appliances without ever needing to be recharged showed the author's creativity.

My only concern would be that at some point, it seemed a lot was happening at the same time. However, I do not hold it against this book, as this is common with action-packed books. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally edited, as I barely found errors in it.

I recommend this book to readers of thrillers and sci-fi books. If you like crime stories, this read should interest you.

It’s interesting to note that Delphine was the name of a demon in one of the books I recently read. I can identify with the way she feels about her kids, though. Her love for them is so great, but occasionally they drive her crazy.

Sounds tempting to read but I am having trouble figuring out during what period of time this takes place. Geographically it is also unclear. Is it in Russia? The name Delphine sounds a lot like dolphin, is it intentional?
