Murder in the Garbage is a crime action drama that follows several detectives, federal agents, and police officers as they work to solve a series of interconnected crimes. The author begins the story by introducing Raoul Martez, a retired navy seal looking to build a new life outside of the military. Raoul is determined to attend college and find a stable job. He eventually applies for a position with a local garbage collection company.

Hank Boucher joins the CIA after completing his military service. He is chosen for a mission in which he poses as a GSA agent. Boucher is interested in uncovering the crimes at the Lackland Airbase after a number of military equipment mysteriously vanished. His presence in the operation draws him into a larger web of crimes, which he must first unravel in order to uncover the answers to his quest.

Hank teams up with Raoul, Detective Cruz, and a number of federal officers to solve cases involving murder, theft, gang violence and treason. They expose the crimes committed by dishonest police commissioners, airbase employees, and an organized criminal group with international connections.

Jerry A. Greenberg has created a masterpiece with his unique ability to narrate the story from the characters' many points of view. The majority of the story is delivered in the first person. Each chapter has a different character describing the narrative from their perspective. This adds to the story's dynamism and enhances the reader's overall experience. This technique genuinely lets the reader feel as if they are sharing the characters' experiences.

The novel falls short in engaging the characters' emotions in the narrative, which is a drawback. I really think that giving fictional characters feelings makes them come alive and humanizes them. Greenberg tended to ignore the reality that each incident had a unique impact on each character's emotional experience simply because he was more concerned with utilizing the characters as instruments to convey the stories.

Murder in the Garbage truly deserves a rating of three out of four stars. There were many typo errors that made the book a bit confusing. For example, at the beginning of the book, the author gives the garbage collection company the name Triangle Waste Management and later switches it to Trinity Waste Management. There were also a few punctuation issues throughout the book that were really uncomfortable to keep noting, suggesting that the work was not professionally proofread. The most prominent punctuation errors were: the wrong use of speech marks.

Murder in the Garbage is ideal for people who enjoy crime, action, and detective stories. Greenberg has crafted a spontaneous storyline that will keep every reader engrossed in the novel. Instead of dragging out the story, the author lets everything happen naturally and in perfect harmony. This adds to the book's allure. The book's shortness makes it a quick and enjoyable read that leaves the reader wanting more.
