Supreme Justice - Max Allan Collins

Supreme Justice is the perfect crime/mystery novel. The main character is a former secret service agent that took a bullet to protect a president he disliked. After that incident, he made some enemies in the secret service and other agencies, and retired. He began his own security company based on the analysis of microexpressions and body language, similar to what is used in the show Lie to Me (if you saw it). He has been called in as a guest on a federal investigation involving the murder of a supreme court justice. The book is half predicting who the next targets will be, and half trying to discover who the mastermind behind the crimes is. The entire story is crafted with amazing, complex characters. The ending was a real surprise, and it gave the whole novel a very authentic feel. I was very happy with this book, and anyone interested in mystery and crime novels would enjoy it. A must-read for sure.
