At some point in our lives, we all consider changing or taking a different path, either because we have to or because we believe it will have a positive impact on our lives. Hank Boucher, who has spent 35 years in the United States Navy Seals, decides that he needs to change careers for a variety of reasons. As a result, he decides to retire and look for a job that will suit him better at his age and also be something that would help him not lose the skills he has gained from working in his previous job, which leads him to become a CIA agent.

The author concentrated on various aspects of the story, one of which was how the main character went through the process of changing careers and how knowing what he needed and where he should be influenced his next step in a positive way, which I really enjoyed. I also loved how doing so meant trying new things, meeting new people, and being assigned to cases where planning and taking action were required.

What I also liked about Murder in the Garbage was how the chapters and pages were numbered, as well as how each chapter was perfectly connected to the one after it. I also liked how the writer's style made it easy for me as a reader to create a map of the characters; therefore, it was easy for me to remember what each character’s role in the novel was and what affect each one of them had on the story.

What I did not like about the novel was that the events did not hide any excitement or mystery in them, so it was easy to predict what was going to happen next and how, which made the story a little boring to read at times. Not to mention how, at the start of the story, Jerry A. Greenberg introduced a side character and then mentioned the main character, which did not make sense to me because this character played a minor role in the story.

This novel is well written, not to mention that it’s exceptionally edited, as I found zero errors while reading it. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this novel to people who like crime and mystery novels, as well as people who thirst for positive change in their lives and people who want a quick read with a satisfying ending.
