Review of E M P Honeymoon
E M P Honeymoon is a romantic thriller written by Dorothy May Mercer. It follows the story of Kelly and Tom and the dangerous circumstances they find themselves in during their honeymoon in Honduras. When Kelly goes on exploring the island, she enters a gift shop where she witnesses a highly suspicious and illegal activity going on. She is found spying and the bad guys give her a chase. Rattled by the experience, Kelly informs her brother, Senator McBride, about what she had found. She also informs Tom, who is a cop. Kelly’s testimony throws light on the illegal activities going on in Honduras. But it also put Kelly and Tom in the midst of danger.
Colonel Rhee Su-jin is on a secret mission to Honduras. She and her team are sent to the island in disguises from their country, which is a bitter enemy to America. They had to blend with the tourists there, bide their time, and take care of their country’s destructive mission. But she meets a mysterious man. Is this man a friend or a foe and how is Su-jin’s mission linked to Kelly and Tom?
E M P Honeymoon is a fast-paced thriller that keeps the readers on the edge of their seats. The book jumps right into the action with Senator McBride receiving a frantic and concerning call from his newly married sister, and the pace continues throughout the book. There are no boring scenes and the plot is very gripping. The central point of the plot is what will happen to the USA if electricity is wiped off of the face of the earth. It is frightening and interesting at the same time. Along with the thriller aspects, there is also the author’s trademark romance. There are also cameos of beloved characters from the author’s previous works. We see Senator Mike, Cynthia and her husband, Sky. Fans of the previous books can get a glimpse of the life of their favourite characters.
I liked the quick pacing of the book. I also liked learning about solar flares and the electric pulses as part of the plot. I also liked the banter between the characters. It added life and flare to the story. As mentioned above, I also liked the cameos from the previous leads of the author's books.
There is nothing I disliked about the book. I couldn’t find any errors. The book seems to be professionally edited. There is some violence and profanity, but nothing too graphic. There are no graphic erotic scenes.
I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because of its gripping pace and plot. I recommend it to young adults and adults. I also recommend it to readers who like fast-paced thrillers and romantic thrillers.
