Grant County series - Karin Slaughter

Newbie here needing to get my post count up so I thought I'd talk about one of my favorite thriller writers of the moment, Karin Slaughter. It actually took awhile to bring myself to read one of her books after I first heard of her. I genuinely could not think of her name without grimacing. I mean, seriously? A crime writer whose name is Slaughter. It was way too gimmicky for me. But I kept hearing her name and finally decided to look her up and discovered that Slaughter was, in fact, her given name, and not just a cheesy pen name. All was right with the world.
I've read both of her series but there's just something about Grant County that seems to stick with me. Particularly, Lena is one of those characters that I find myself feeling sorry for and understanding one minute, and then despising her the next. Okay, mostly the despise part. And Sara and Jeffrey's relationship isn't perfect by any stretch, but I still find myself rooting for them. In other words, she creates flawed characters and are somehow still likable.
I'm a sucker for plot twists, which happens a good bit in these books. I'll try really hard not to ruin anything, but the ending of Beyond Reach was amazing, in my opinion. It was a controversial choice, but one that I thought took a lot of balls. Days after I was done reading it, I was still shocked and thinking about it. Which is something that I love in a book.
What's your favorite Karin Slaughter book? Or if you're not a fan, why not?
