Review of E M P Honeymoon
Kelly Turbulo is on her honeymoon with her husband Tom Turbulo on an island resort in Honduras when she comes across the gift shop, La Pocilga. But what sort of gift shop needs such a high-tech lab with so many sophisticated computers? She immediately finds out when someone tries strangling her that no gift shop truly does. Her distress call to her brother, Senator Mike McBride, has Cynthia sending her team over to Honduras to protect Kelly.
Meanwhile, on the same island, Colonel Rhee Su-jin of the Homeland Army has been given an assignment along with a promotion. She and her team must assemble and operate a ballistic weapon capable of breaching America’s defense undetectable. Cynthia’s team, along with Steve, Tom and Kelly, get together to uncover details about this group of terrorists and to map out a plan. They are Team USA. A single mistake could wipe out the USA, and with the world’s survival in the balance, they have to work smart and work hard to sabotage the satellite without tipping the terrorists off.
What would America do without her power grids? All of which are stationed on computers? This book is an eye-opener. E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer features Cynthia Eastman and her team along with a honeymooning couple; Tom Turbulo and Kelly (McBride) Turbulo. The Electro-Magnetic-Pulse (EMP) is a very real threat to America and the world at large. Dorothy brings this threat to the attention of the readers.
Away from this practical lesson, the novel is absolutely interesting. The suspense was just thrilling; will the team succeed? Or will the warhead be detonated? The characters blended so well, with each character assuming a role in the team, all of which together would contribute to their success or failure on this mission. My favorite character was Steve—a CIA operative smart and focused enough to get the job done where needed; even with his smart mouth. I also love that the blooming romance between Sharon and Steve is subtle and not, in anyway, made the focus of the book.
I enjoyed every part of this novel. The characters, subject matter, plot and storyline as well as the different settings were all so well developed. The book has been professionally edited. I also love that though this book is a part of the Washington McBride series, it can still be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
I will be rating this book four out of four stars. This book is amazing. Every chapter was so well-written. The author put a lot of effort into the creation of this literary work and should definitely be commended.
I recommend this book for readers of suspense, spy fiction and adventure novels. I especially recommend it for readers interested in books with a technological theme. The book is suitable for teenage, young adult and adult readers.
