I am extremely incredibly thrilled to have been offered the chance to review John Ruane’s Book 2 from the Dylan Reilly Series, the Russian Assault. When I received the notice, I did not hesitate and jumped right in. As a result of his valiant deeds, Dylan has gained recognition among several defense agencies and is available to help when requested. He is willing to assist when needed.

The White House was attacked. Thanks to the President’s top secret service agent, Ken Hack, they were able to capture two of the attackers. They were surprised to see the attackers were young adults. After the attack on the White House, another group of terrorists posed as protesters and created a commotion. They threw rocks and frozen bottles, hurting several police officers.

As if these attacks weren’t enough, the terrorists went and murdered innocent children, men, and women, even priests, at a church in Florida. It was a gruesome massacre of Catholics at the house of worship, peace, and prayer.

The Secret Service, the FBI, and local police suspect that these are all connected and might have been initiated by a socialist or leftist group. Ken Hack invited Dylan to help.

Angry young adults were recruited and misled into joining a socialist group that they thought was only doing protests and demonstrations against the government. However, they were shocked to see the realization of what they had signed up for. One of the recruits attempted to leave while they were having the initial briefing. He was killed and died instantly. Fearing for their lives, they had no choice but to stay and do what they were told.

Will the young men be able to escape the world into which they have been thrust? Will Dylan, Ken Hack, and the rest of the defense agencies be able to stop another attack? Please read the book and get ready to be entertained.

I like how Ruane started with action right off the bat. Not a single page was wasted with lengthy conversations and/or descriptions of scenarios. It is action-packed. I did not find any errors. There were profane words, but no inappropriate scenes or language. The descriptions of deaths and injuries are disturbing and might not appeal to some people.

The book is not inclined to a certain religion. However, some of the scenes revolved mostly around the Catholic church. For those who want to read but are adamant due to this fact, it is not preaching, so you can relax and enjoy reading. I recommend the book to those who are fans of action and thriller books.

I am awarding this review a final grade of 4 out of 4. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next installment in this series and am excited to read more of Dylan Reilly's adventures.

I hardly ever intentionally jump into the middle of a series. However, your review makes this sound like somethingI just can’t miss. In addition, for some reason I am drawn to stories that center around terrorism.
