Sex, Lies, and Online Games by Rachel Gibson
This specific book is the first in the series of four, which the main female protagonist is Lucy Rothschild - a mystery writer who purposely goes out of her way to go on these online dating sites so she can find inspiration for her newest mystery novel. Usually, she ends up meeting some self-absorbed man who monopolizes the conversation and she ends up finding her inspiration!!
Enter Quinn McIntyre - a cop! But he's an undercover cop working a case of twisted female serial killer. As the serial killer starts to kill more men that use online dating sites, Lucy is starting to look suspicious, especially with her strong background into police policies and violent crimes and her newest mystery book is starting to mimic the crimes in real life!!! Is Lucy the female serial killer? Can Quinn manage to not fall in love with Lucy and put away the bad guy..err girl??
I loved this book!! It's such a refreshing change from a lot of the other contemporary romances!! I stayed up till 3 in the morning reading this and I couldn't put it down! I really enjoyed the beginning when the first two main characters meet. Clearly, they each know that their online profile is clearly made up and that there is something most certainly off! Most importantly, the book changes narrative from Lucy to Quinn's in every alternating chapter...so we get a really get perspective of the situation from both sides. The banter is smart, and funny and SASSY!!! Which I love, and the two main characters (especially Lucy) is personable and makes the reader like her even more than they really should. And the mystery was awesome! I kept trying to guess who would actually be the serial killer, but I was so off base (but then again I'm always off based when it comes to guess who really is the murderer) I truly enjoyed this book and I'm seriously considering to buy the book from my closest bookstore.
