E M P Honeymoon by Dorothy May Mercer is a fictional novel that tells the story of Kelly Turbulo and her husband, Tom Turbulo, and how their honeymoon turned into a deadly adventure that they will never forget.

After their wedding, Kelly and Tom Turbulo, just like every couple with hearts overflowing with new love, spent weeks looking for a befitting destination for their honeymoon. Eventually, they settled in Honduras, a country in Central America. While they are on their honeymoon, Kelly, being thoughtful, decides to go shopping and perhaps get some gifts for her nephews and nieces from a shop called the Pigsty, known for selling piggy toys. After concluding her shopping, she tries to check out and realizes that there is no clerk in the shop. Kelly moves around the shop, hoping to find the clerk somewhere, but instead, she surprisingly stumbles on a restricted door, specified to be accessed only by the employees of the establishment. It is said that curiosity kills the cat. When Kelly finally gains access to the restricted room, her life is changed forever.

It turns out that the shop is a hideout for a bunch of terrorists who hope to wreak havoc on America with an EMP attack. Kelly quickly realizes that it is not just her life that is at stake but also the lives of plenty of Americans. Instinctively, Kelly calls her brother, Senator Mike McBride, who in turn notifies his trusted friend in the CIA, Joseph Rench. She also tells her husband that the relatively short honeymoon is coming to an end. Will the young couple and their old country survive?

There were many positive aspects to this beautiful work, and I particularly loved the way the writer used simple and efficient English in her work. Many times, writers think the use of complex words portrays them as scholars or intellectuals, but they forget that plenty of stops to look up words in the dictionary hamper the pace with which the reader reads. I also loved the way the book was embellished with many themes like patriotism, bravery, smartness, and many others. From the introductory part of the novel, the theme of patriotism quickly sprouts, as we see that Kelly is not selfish about her discovery at all, as she immediately knows the lives of many people are at stake. She could have easily decided to keep her mouth shut, but she did not.

The theme of bravery is shown in Kelly's decision to try and find a solution to the unforeseen problem by contacting her influential brother. Another aspect of this work I loved was the beautiful description and characterization, which made the story palpable and credible.

The book had no negative aspects at all, and the absence of errors says a lot about the work put in by the author and the editors in making sure that people have a good experience reading it.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars, and I happily recommend it to lovers of amazing literature, particularly fast-paced novels filled with adventure and suspense.
