Death of a Murderer by Werner Kellner is a book that tells the story of a family-owned business in Germany. The foundation of this family business was filled with all sorts of illegal deeds, all in the quest for wealth and power. It conveyed clearly the belief that most wealthy families have dark secrets and involvements in things less imagined.

This book tells the story of Torsten, a businessman who dealt in the production and distribution of firearms and weapons and whose life was filled with all kinds of gory stories ranging from his days of military service to his business life. Like most rich men with experience in illegal deeds, he had never imagined that things could take a downward shape within a matter of days and that his lifelong decisions could tarnish the image he had built at all costs and ruin his family.

‌On the positive aspects of this book, I loved the way the author captured the theme of loyalty using Stephan, who strived to save and restore the company, oblivious of the games and blackmail that circled around Torsten. He was well aware of his responsibilities in the company, not just as a son-in-law but as a successor to the owner, Torsten. The author also brought to light the possible violent and underground activities of wealthy and powerful men in societies and the extent they get to in order to achieve even the slightest goal of theirs. I loved how the author captured the theme of greed and manipulation through the characters of Oleg and Matthais, who wanted to take out anyone standing as a threat to their desires. The theme of infidelity in marriage was not left out, as it was clearly seen through Stephan's incessant cheating and lack of self-control. Also, the author beautifully captured the themes of true friendship and motherhood through Laura and Mary. The book was also written in simple diction.

On the negative aspects of this book, I believe that some readers may find it difficult to comprehend due to the poor sentence construction and lack of adequate punctuation. Also, the writing technique adopted by the author could be quite confusing for a good number of readers. The book was not sufficiently edited.

I recommend this book for those that love horror fiction as it is not suitable for readers who are not fans of horror and gory imaginations. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars due to the errors I found. The book had a lot of positive aspects. Hence, I could not deduct any other star.
